Honestly, the entire trilogy felt OFF the SW storyline. It seemed to me like the directors never watched the prequels or related material...

The movie was in big part about the damage control, yeah. Addressing the mistakes that TLJ did.
Holdo maneuver = 1 in a million
Rose = sidelined
Snoke = piece of shit nobody
Luke = "I was wrong"
Though I wasn't a fan of Rey becoming a granddaughter of Palps. I preferred her "nobody" origin we got from Johnson.

TBH, I blame Kennedy, Abrams and Johnson for it all at this point. They all had a part to play. And that supposed Disney "story team" or whatever they call it.
