Jedi don't hurt other creatures. I'm sure Yoda couldn't force stun him or use telekinesis on him, but if he'd really wanted to, he could have killed the beast. And everyone in TCW is way underpowered.
And yeah, they forgot about a few plots in TCW. Though I'm sure Palpatine had the beast's armor grown in a lab somewhere with the DNA they took.
