It doesn't matter if she was pierced, it matters if she was hurt. Thanos himself admits he could have been killed, Hela was in no such danger.

We see his strength, reflexes, and reactionary feats throughout the film. He doesn’t use the stones the entire time so there are plenty of feats to use. He isn’t up against Surtur here, kiddo. We see Thor more than hold his own against Hela prior to his awakening of powers. You are really dumb.
