Yup. Stupid ass Marvel. They have their pet characters and they sh|t all over the rest. In DC, even though Superman is King, they at least try to give the supporting cast a chance to shine.

Nah. He sucker punched him. It was mentioned in the issue and years later when he was Grey Hulk. Basically Hulk thought he was an illusion or figment of his imagination and let his guard down. Then Samson hit him with everything he had. He KOed Hulk but he broke his hand.

Early Samson was very respectable. He wasn't in Hulk or Thor's league but fighting smart and his great durability let him hang with Hulk for a while. It's been nothing but a down hill slide after these mid 80s showings. The pain started in the 90s and never let up.

His other sweet feat during that era : he was in a SIX HOUR battle with Savage Hulk doing well and holding his own.
