Anarcho-Capitalism vs Benevolent Dictatorship

If a gun were held to your head, which of these two would you choose?

Which one is better (lesser of two evils) in theory? In practice?

I like systems where the weak/ignorant serve the strong/intelligent

Problem with a benevolent dictatorship is that eventually someone else is gonna take over that dictatorship. Whether that benevolent dictator dies or is killed. There's a reason the old guard were rounded up and killed in the Soviet Union. So a benevolent dictatorship will more or less lead to an oppressive one.

We can see how bad life without government was when we look over to Somalia.

It's a difficult decision to make. I'll definitely have to think long and hard over this.

Ancap, at least we would have an easier time reforming society back into a regular one without a centralized monolithic force we'd have to overthrow first.

Good points, but I should note that the old guard of the Soviet Union were anything but benevolent. Stalin was just more ruthless than even them.

Well, that's my point. Not that the old guard were nice and peaceful. But that someone who is more ruthless is always around the corner.

Which would I pick over two things that don't actually exist? Hmm.

I'd pick the benevolent dictator, as a person like that could in a reasonable amount of time be convinced to step down from power and then society could create a government by the people; for the people. Wins all around.

Anarcho-capitalism so that we could watch it quickly fail and people would stfu about it.

You make a convincing point.

How many more examples of socialism and communism do we need to fail before people finally STFU about that?

See? They wouldn't. They'll just say "But that's not real anarcho-capitalism!"

You're probably right.

I think anarcho-capitalism and Communism are both pretty similar in that they both can work on a theoretical level but not a practical one.

Not even sure how Communism has any theoretical merit.

Dictators may start out Benevolent but never remain that way.
Look at any Communist/Socialist Country that was ever started by guy with the BEST Of Intentions.

If you remove the human part of the equation then it sounds great.

We could write a book about all the things you are unsure about.

Weird how you talk down to someone who would school you in a political debate.

They have convinced themselves communism only fails when done wrong.

Not joking. It's a legit argument some make.
