"I've got [this thing] which we can use to [go to this place] and this is [insert motivation]". Keep in mind, the context here is that he just returned from a dangerous mission and is greeting his love interest.

The moment, which should be used to make us invested in either character instead uses them as plot devices and is very blatant about it.
