TBH, this means absolutely nothing continuity-wise.

Rian confirms in the commentary that Kylo and Rey are equals as represented by the force pull struggle with Anakin's lightsaber.

I believe "absolute equals in that moment" was the phrasing.

So it's still possible that Kylo ~ Luke

Their raw power is equal, as shown in their telekinetic struggle over the lightsaber.

Their dueling skill is not, given Kylo's been trained much more extensively in that field.
