How so? G1 Megatron achieved his conquest with the aid of an army, and still lost it in the end. BM Megatron took over Cybertron all on his lonesome, and would have succeeded utterly had the Oracle not directly intervened. G1 Megs has very few feats approaching BW's consistent level of cunning and guile.@Quanchi: I too enjoyed the hell out of BM. The way it explored the ideas of free will and agency, along with the dichotomy of the natural vs the technological, was exceptional in several ways. The religious undertones between Primal and Megatron grabbed me as well. You could write a ****ing thesis on the relationship between those two.
As to the fight (the least interesting component of this thread, imo) it is obvious that G1 would defeat BW in his earliest incarnation. However, it was established that transmetal Megatron did have the firepower to kill a G1, while also possessing a VASTLY more fuel efficient form. If we translate that to his upgraded dragon form, which possesses even more firepower, the same greater fuel efficiency, and cuts down the size disparity but quite a degree...well, the waters become far murkier.
He took it over, via deus ex machina. Don't make it out to be any more than what it is.
And I can call that a pretty severe one way analysis. BW Megatron suffered as much cartoonishly bad villain luck as g1 Megatron did, also, remember this - BW Megatron is following the plan laid out by G1 Megatron's instructions via the Golden Disk. Plus, to achieve his dragon form.... he needed G1 Megatron's spark.
As to your direct vs comparison... Eh, I do not believe BW Megatron in any incarnation can take G1 Megatron. Remember, even with a direct headshot on a completely inert Optimus at full power, he still could not kill him. He came close, but I imagine that if Optimus had been fully awake and powered, there's no way that shot would have worked. Optimus has tanked far heavier firepower loads than that. As for Dragon Megs, I havn't really seen any feats that tip the scales there. G1 Megatron, and his clashes with Prime I can measure far higher. For example, surviving an explosion strong enough to shift planetary masses out of orbit at ground zero in the Ultimate Doome Part 3 is a durability feat for G1 Megatron far in excess of anything I've ever seen in BW or BM.
