What are the bad things the Empire did in Canon?

Title already says it. In canon, what are the atrocities/crimes etc the empire committed that made it look so bad to the rebels?

Well, the Seperatists killed inocent Twi'leks. The Empire took over Neutral planets and tribes.

Yes, Alderaan’s destruction is one, but if I recall it correctly the Empire tried to cover it up and even the Emperor publicly expressed his grief for the loss. Still when the emperor died rebellions started everywhere. It makes sense for us readers to know the true nature of Sidious and the empire and antagonize him, but why would your average citizen decide to rebel against it?

Power was a big part of it. Giving an Empire of any sort power in Star Wars make all of the citizens worried.
