It's as inevitable as earthquakes and shitty weather, not a question of if but when and to what degree.
We're already seeing debt in the critical levels, and banks are slowly (and quietly) rolling out programs similar to the ones that contributed to the housing crises in '08.
Personally, I think increasing levels of climate change-related butt****ery will be a significant contribution to the next few crashes. In the coming decades there will be agricultural sectors planetwide that were once lucrative but have become untenable due to rapid changes in ecosystem. Water crises and desertification will be the norm for huge swaths of the planet, the destruction from storms costs billions to repair and also puts a lot of financial pressure on the people in those areas. We're already seeing insurance rates skyrocket in areas susceptible to wildfires and flooding, making it difficult for small businesses to survive in those areas, whilst also raising the value of and making it more expensive to live on land further away from those areas.
Oh and of course, automation.
