Its one on one in this match. both Apocalypse and Ares are bloodlusted. The two are fighting in the Western Desert of Egypt.

And I don't want to take away from Ares. He was powerful in his own right. But Apoc was pretty damn beastly as well as versatile.

Ya, he withstood a ton (well, multiple tons from Magneto) due to his shields. Apoc blocks Ares attacks and then shoves truckloads of sand through Ares' throat.
