Foundation series is a sci-fi series. I strongly recommend it since you like Star Wars.

Crime and Punishment could be said to be a psychological thriller. It’s considered one of the best works of Russian literature, so I also suggest you read it.

Decameron is a collection of 100 “novelle” (that is, short stories) ranging from tragic to erotic content, which depict the life in 1300 Century Italy with irony and sarcasm. It’s a very funny and entertaining reading. I also suggest you read it

I'll give em a look.

The Bible.

Legitimately the greatest fiction book ever written tbh.

There's been a lot of good suggestions here already, I'll just throw in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. There is no other fantasy series like it.

This is why we have PM.

The Culture series, by Iain M. Banks. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, of course. And I've recently really enjoyed Carrion Throne and Watchers of the Throne: The Emperor's Legion, by Chris Wraight.

American Gods is pretty dope.

Ah, I knew I was forgetting one. ^

American Gods was pretty boring in all honesty.

I don’t think my taste in books is going to be particularly popular here, tbfh.

I don’t particularly have favourite books, where I can easily think of my favourite film I struggle with books. I’d concur with Syndicate on Tolkien’s works, and with the mention of ASOIAF. When I was younger I remember reading the His Dark Materials trilogy, but that’s probably only on my mind because of the BBC/HBO adaptation that’s incoming.

I still don’t rank these escape-inducing fantasy books among my favourites though, I enjoy a thought provoking novel more than a getaway style. I’ve been reading Ayn Rand staggered with Upton Sinclair at the moment, not because I agree with either, but reflecting on their respective writing styles and how they mirror their political leanings interests me more than most other works.

To each their own, though. I’m still waiting on WOW with baited breath.

i would recommend aristotle stuff after reading ayn rand books tbh, it's thought-inspiring to see some resemblences and build a connection between those
