So not only is the Dark Empire vastly outnumbered, they're also outgunned in terms of number of superweapons too. Not to mention there's an entire fleet of stealthed Harrower dreadnoughts that can snipe priority enemy targets. Then you've got the Corsair going around causing supernovas in DE space.
