Well to be fair, he was taken off that Batgirl project. And not sure what hes doing nowadays.

Is Disney going to be cutting loose everyone who has said dumb shit or just the conservatives? James Gunn made a bunch of creepy pedo jokes, but this is okay. Gina questions the election and nah gotta go. Pedro can make all the faulty comparisons involving nazis he wants, but he's a leftist with his pronouns in his twitter bio so he gets a pass.

The fact of the matter is Disney just isn't consistent and now they have potentially impacted future projects. Rumors were Robert Downey Jr. wanted to be play Thrawn. Well he's also come out strongly against cancel culture recently, so if the rumors about him and Thrawn are true who knows if he is still interested.

Carl Weathers and Gina are close, he was also supposed to be involved in the rangers show. With her gone, if he also exits then what about that show?

Then there is the larger impact on the company, not from people who necessarily care Gina was fired, but who are using this to (validly) point out Disney's cucking to China, their racism to John Boyega, their hiring of known sex offenders, etc.

The china thing and the racism bit are definitely things they will not want to see be given more oxygen. Disney of course so big there will be no "get woke go broke" here, but there perhaps will be "Get woke, go too far, people stop taking you seriously". Go look at the recent comments on disneys twitter now, random posts that dont have anything to do with gina or star wars or anything are seeing various people responding bringing up...China lol. The whole cucking to China. Some might scoff "it's just twitter" but they bent the knee to the twitter mob so they clearly care about what these people think.

Having said all that I don't want Pedro Pascal fired. It shouldn't happen, but it would if they were consistent and had the morals some have claimed. I also don't want RDJ to walk away from playing Thrawn if he is truly interested. Maybe he never truly was, but given he is tight with Favreau I'm guessing this is why the rumor was taken even a little bit seriously.

Maybe this isn't even about politics maybe it is just good ol' fashioned sexism. Or classism. Pedro is worth more hence he can get away with more. The exact kind of special treatment progressives are against.

I dont feel she should be fired, but just in terms of context, James Gunns tweets were long in the past, and he apologised for them. Plus according to John Campea, Gina got plenty of warnings and opportunities to stop, Gunn got none when he was fired.

She was also encouraging potentially dangerous conspiracy theories. Pedro was not as far as im aware.

That said, you may have a point that they dont seem to go after more left/woke individuals.

Pedro's tweets weren't that long ago. And your context about Gunn would be more relevant if Disney had responded to his tweets by saying "we disagree with these kind of jokes, but they were in the past and we look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Gunn in the future as long as he upholds the Disney family standards" or some nonsense like that. That isn't what happened though.

Democrats questioned the 2016 election for 4 years. Pedro equated anyone wearing a maga hat to a nazi and people have been attacked just for wearing those hats. So he was 100% fueling dangerous conspiracies that could get people hurt, just apparently not one that had anything to do with the election.

EDIT: Also not only does it seem like disney targets conservatives more, but in general even if you step back beyond disney it also seems like any statement a conservative makes is interpreted in the worst possible way imaginable, while the same is not done to the other side.

But anyway, I did some digging around, and it looks like it's a couple of dumb social media posts, some of which can be interpreted in different ways and one that is a blatant joke... And now she needs to have her livelihood destroyed? Because apparently the agency that represented her also dropped her and some people seemingly want her social media accounts, which helps her advertise herself, terminated as well. So much for the land of the free lol. But whatever. If that's what they want to turn their country into, it's on them.

"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable." The same fukin company who is not only happy to shoot films outside Uighur Muslims camps, camps full of people who are persecuted for their cultural and religious identities, but thanked the people running the camps for being allowed to do so? The same company who removed Finn from a number of their Chinese advertisements for Star Wars because of how racist the Chinese are towards black people and they were afraid of losing money?

I don't give a shit about American politics specifically, hence why I almost never post in the American news-dominated GDF. I live in South Africa, which has its own mountain of problems. But I utterly despise hypocritical double standards when confronted by them. Disney is happy with indulging religious persecution and racism as long as their wallets benefit, yet the moment it's the opposite their tune changes. You should always call out the bad. Not just when it's to your benefit to do so.

1) Pedro didnt make remarks about Jews though. Or spread potentially dangerous conspiracy theories. Im not sure what your point on Gunn is. His tweets were A LOT WORSE. But they were well in the Past and he was very apologetic about them.

A maga hat is one of those red hats that say "make america great again". Pascal equated anyone who wears the hat to nazis.

Since you're not from America you probably won't realize that people have literally been attacked for merely just wearing the hat in public. Not for wearing the hat and saying something vile or anything like that, just for merely wearing the hat. Even children as young as 10 have been attacked for wearing it.

So one could argue it's just as dangerous for him to push the conspiracy(and I don't know what else to call it) that anyone wearing that red hat is a nazi.

Well, I can't speak for others, but I've been against it since I found out, especially considering the South African government is very tight with the Chinese government and seem keen on trying to bring their practices here. Because while I am not a Muslim myself, I made a number of Muslim friends during my time at uni and there are a number of Muslim people who live in my community, which is how I myself found out about it originally. Like I said, I don't really give a shit about the American actor element to it for the most part. But the fact that Disney will use that as an excuse of all things considering their track record of bending backwards to arguably one of the most prominent human rights abusing countries on the planet does piss me off. Because the Muslim situation in China is just one extreme example. Over here, they're working on a Chinese power plant that only the Chinese will be allowed to use and gain benefit from but which will actively destroy the lives of a number of communities living along the Limpopo river by using (and in the process poisoning) the water these people depend on for their livelihood. A significant number of innocent South Africans are going to die directly because of these actions. So, Disney can shove their righteous act up their ass.

Have you heard that HeelsVsBabyface guy? His screeching about cancel culture makes that Quartering guy look dignified and statesmanlike. I literally only listened to about 4 minutes of one of his videos and was immediately put off. It was supposed to be about how bad the new Equalizer TV show is, so I watched hoping for some decent critique of the writing or some such, all he did was complain that a white guy shot a black guy and complain about Queen Latifah's weight like it wasn't realistic, as though Edward Woodward was having high-octane superfights every week on the original version.

I mean the new Equalizer show is terrible though.

I think with this situation with Gina has shown is that basically there are little to no moral decisions Disney is going to be capable of making without being accused of hypocrisy until they deal with their China problem. I can think of a few ways to at least start:

1-Total condemnation of what the government is doing
2-A pledge not to film anymore movies in China
3-A pledge not to alter films or their posters in order to cater to the bigotry they apparently feel is present in China

To be clear I do not think they will do any of those things. Though to be fair they might not film in China for a while just to avoid bad press, but I doubt they would make an official announcement that they are done doing so.

Oh and do not fire Pedro Pascal but *do* tell him to cut the nazi bullshit out.

And yeah Disney dont have any actual morals. I doubt they are even left wing themselves. They just care about 1)money and 2)whats trending in terms of complaints (because it could effect their income, so money again).
