Grievous's cough?

Was an explanation ever given for why GG had that nagging cough? I had always assumed it was from Mace crushing his chest in the clone wars microseries, but I dont know if that still holds true.

It’s not anymore, though not sure if a new explanation has been given.

The explanation now is that the cybernetics implanted in Grievous' lungs irritate the tissue, which gives him that trademark cough:

I recall now all that noise....kinda a bummer tbh, well at least compared to how it was before.
