That's not the Hellbat. It's a suit Bruce had stashed away in a vault, designed for wars, and decided to pull out when about a half dozen Talon's invaded the mansion.

Why would Bruce build a war suit, and why did he have it stashed away in a vault in his basement are questions Snyder probably didn't want us to ask.

2. It's the "wars" bit that gets me. Is he Tony Stark? Or Captain America? He patrols a city, not fight in wars overseas or wherever.

I suppose he could have meant "alien invasion", but there's been tons of those, and he's never once used power armor.
