Sometimes you ALMOST make me manage to feel bad for you. Then you just f*ck it up later in some spectacular way that just makes me laugh.

Perhaps you could make the case that RPG statements break the 4th wall and are referring to the roleplaying itself rather than the "real" lore.

I don't see the issue with using Drew's opinion. It also makes sense.
