That's why you make sure you have enough power to get them the **** off your lawn.

My impression that most Starfleet officers live relatively cushy lives. You're on this big starship, hauling cargo or dignitaries from one place to another. Very little war, and yeah, you might be unlucky to run in to the Borg, but that's a one in a million chance.

That was the lower decks biggest tell that the drill instructor was dirty.

Starfleet Captain's kept getting sent on impossible suicide missions, when the real captain just sits on her chair all day and send the lower decks on suicide missions.

If one is all-powerful ,you can create a scenario where you are challenged justenough....if things get too challenging, you have an automatic fail-safe kicking in.

And of course, wipe your memory that it's YOU who will help out, and attribute it to a god of some sort.

So go through life, and get cancer? Pray to this god, and voila your cancer is gone. Need to win the lottery? Pray and boom.

Do this every ten years or so when you're bored of being omnipotent and want to see how the common man lives.

Yeah, you can lower yourself and have some kind of emergency kill switch that stops you from failing ultimately. I wouldn't even go on a power trip, all I'd do is create a utopia like place for me and my friends/family to live happily and save without having to worry about anything.

Think that would get boring, as you'd know you can't really lose.

Think of the Twilight Zone gambler who thought he went to heaven because he wins all the time and gets whatever he wants, and eventually realizes he's in the other place.

Another to put it is comparing PVE to PVP experiences. I personally hate PVP because I suck at most of them, but I can't deny the thrill of the uncertainty is a completely different experience compared to solo.

The problem with Lower Decks is that basically everything should be taken with a grain of salt. It's a funny show, imo, but it's more a parody rather than any kind of accurate representation.

I want Riker's outcome to be canon. 🙁

Couldn't that just transform into a vicious cycle, though?

Like, you notice that every single time you pray, your 'wish' is granted... So you start praying for more, and more, and more, until one day you say: "Hmm, I wonder what would happen if I prayed to become omnipotent..?"(like you're choosing to be here), and *poof*, you're back to where you started.

That's the trouble with omnipotence/omniscience... It's hard to trick yourself.

I think Saint was being a bit in general, you could adjust the rules that it wouldn't always kick in, like only in absolute severe situations and more subtle not like some kind of deus ex machina moment.

Honestly I don't get it. With omnipotence you can be everything everybody listed here so far and more. With so much potential at your disposal I don't think boredome will be a problem and even if it's still better that not existing anymore.

You'd figure it out pretty soon.

Failsafe.

The omniscience that would come with the omnipotence is what I think would be the most maddening -- you know how absolutely everything is going to play out, so you're just going through the motions for all eternity.

Saint is past 30 and still around so far he's doing a terrible job.

Can you not just wish to be able to trick yourself then?

Or at least, wipe your memory of the omnipotence. Sure, there will be the dread you get when you DO figure it out, but then hey, you will simply forget it all over again. Rinse, repeat over decades.

To the outside observer, sure it sounds depressing. but from your perspective? You're the happiest goldfish of all time..

Or just create a genie-esque sidekick that you can summon at will when the need arises(like Thunderbolt), set up some governing 'rules' to dictate what he can and cannot do, and then place most of your power into him.

Captaining the Titan? That's canon anyway.

Omnipotence seems like a lot of work

Then wish that you find it fun.

Saint, we're the only ones that see the light. Those mere mortals simply do not understand.

Sounds like that old "can God create a rock that even he can't move" kind of question.

I actually more worry about that I will have a completely different perspective to everything. And with said perspective, Will I still choose what I normally will choose?

Aside from that, I actually think being an omnipotent being not so bad
