But yes, I was roommates with an Indian in college, made friends with all of his friends, was sent a phone number to contact another Indian in New York years later, and have remained friends with this Indian for 25 years now.

And I absolutely did ask him about an investment scheme involving bars against foreign investment, and he absolutely and proudly called Indians schemers and thiefs.

I mean he openly said he has no intention of ever even paying off his student loans because the US government would never find him. I told him I doubt most Indians think like him, and he insisted most do. He even told me about how the H1B system is hopelessly corrupt and people pay to forge resume's and credentials, and that many of his friends used those systems, and it was all perfectly normal and all but condoned by the government.

For what it's worth I still don't believe he spoke for all Indians or even most.

Basically he's the underachieving brother, his bro is a PHD Ivy graduate doing research and seems honest. A bit of a dick though, when he visited our college to pick him up he completely ignored us like we were all beneath his notice.
