Barium-142 and krypton-91 are extremely radioactive waste particles, and they decay down their own chain.

Edit. You may argue that they have some super-unstable element that decays into a stable element (so there wouldn't be any fallout) and releasing a lot of energy in the process, but then you wouldn't be able find, create, or trigger/control it. Unless it's in some near-zero entropy environment?

Either way it's a dogshit explanation that leads to more problems than it solves.

Her potential was mentioned at least once, like two decades ago.

So it's not an entirely new thing, no. Writer did his homework. But, granted, it's far from being a standard showing for her.

She's really not the joke character that people seem to think she is.
