It's as stupid as standing in front of a train and yelling "I HATE MASS TRANSIT!!!" over and over again... The train keeps going whether it runs you over or not.

Yup.

If anyone seriously thinks Superman has no character flaws, they're not reading Superman comics.

He has flaws but they aren't as easily seen as say Wayne's. On the surface he's Messiah like

Sure, but Wayne's a psychopath, so he's not the best example.

I do get what you mean, though. People too often see a person that's generally a "good person" and don't look any deeper. Even good people have their own shit to deal with.

That’s the good thing about Clark. Our real world sucks enough, we read stories to escape real world problems, and there are many flawed characters out there.

With all that, Superman is the representation of the goodness in us, the goodness we strive for. And to me, that’s why I like Superman so much.

I see what you're saying.

His is generally perceived by everyone(even us comic book nerds, who know a lot more about him than most) as the epitome of a flawless character... The quintessential "boy scout".

True @ Galan, Pr, Squal...i had this same conversation at the comic book stroe the other day. He's Cap without the holier than thou speeches and flag waving, Jesus without the religion. Just someone who inspires without the baggage

Funny thing is I used to hate Superman. But the asinine...annoying and borderline clinical sackbuffing of Batman over the past decade or so by everyone did the unthinkable and made me relate more to Superman. He's not infallable...it hit me one day reading death of superman. He's just a man who was raised right by moral parents. His biggest flaws to me is he's overconfident. Because he is infact Superman, he has a tendency to think he's always right even when he isn't. He wants to be like everyone else, but his great power has gotten to his head just a tiny TIIIIIINY bit. Justice league unlimited played on this idea well. Its a credit to his character that I can say its only a little bit, because that power would probably turn anybody else into a full on *******. When I think of an infallable personality I think of Steve Rogers. He is...superhumanly good, wise and just. Especially considering his upbringing. Clark Kent is just a good and honest man.

edit....One more thing that goes to this point, its WAY easier to push Clark over the edge and piss him off than it is to get Steve to give in to anger.

At least Clark inspires others. All Bruce does is run around with kids in tights in the middle of the night and hang out in dark alleys.

serious and honest question-

why do you think people spend so much time hating on superman and trying so hard to shit on everything he does?

i know it happens to alot of characters, but it always seems especially prevalent with superman. why is that?

A combination of him being extremely powerful, well-known and popular, and having obnoxious fans who gloat about the fact that he is, in fact, more powerful than whatever characters his haters prefer. 👆

I just don't like his face, tbh.

He really should wear a mask.

I don't think it's that easy to push either Supes or Cap over the edge. Iirc they've never went ooc in canon

He brought him to the Avengers and said:

"Guys, look! I found Vermin brutally beaten down on the street, there was a black guy running away when I arrived."

I agree with a lot of that... except for the last part about it being easier to push Supes than Cap. At the end of the day, Cap is a soldier and will absolutely take a guy out if it comes down to it. That's not a knock against Cap, it's just that he's more ready to accept that sometimes mofo's gotta die to save people than Supes is.
