You know good gay characters, Apollo and Midnighter. Hell even making Alan from Earth 2 gay was handled with respect.
Making gay characters and naming them snowflakes and Safespace are bad writing, and it stinks of useless pandering.
Superboy Prime is probably the most whiny, ****boi-ish and a WELL written character imo.
More complex than your average DC character. At least in the beginning. Most of DC is so boringly black & white. Prime was just a broken person. Human. With way too much power. And BOOM! There goes Connor/Titans/JLA. I find him infinitely more interesting than Clark, Diana, Bruce, most Lanterns, any Speedster...
SBP is what he is. A child who lost everything, sacrificed everything and regretted it later. On top of that, he has more power than anyone around him. He, like any teen, wanted his life back. And he had the power to try and take it. He's written VERY well for what he is. He's a school shooter with super powers. He's VERY realistic.
