So it looks like the timeline if it can be called that, is like this:
Superman rallies the troops, incl. all his villains and SBP.
They defeat DK's first army, whilst DK is busy fighting Perpetua.
DK defeats Perpetua, realigns Earth Prime, gets all his power back. Recreates all of his dark worlds, recreates all of his army, including his hero units (like Last Son).
SBP fights DK, DK can't defeat him (lol) and in fighting him, SBP recreates his perfect universe and....removes himself from the fight to live there, lol.
Golden WW appears, and fights DK through time and space, before finally killing him at the end of time. DK, mind you, starts the fight STRONGER than her.

So it was all real, DK couldn’t kill SBP. SBP was going to kill DK and destroy everything but Krypto came in the way and he changes his mind.
He then takes this course? Makes perfect sense.
