Yeah. Well, that is actually how Vin acquired the rights to the character so they could be done independently. And I was hoping that he would be investing his profits from those films into Riddick, but I'm not so sure anymore. I know he has a hard time doing the character because he has to go to such a "dark place" for the role and he's got kid(s) now and all..
The next film was announced, titled "Furia," (even though it was always spelled Furya), but I've heard jack shit about it in the last few years since it was announced and I thought I saw that the director was going to be working on some other sci-fi movie, but it's not even mentioned on IMDB and he hasn't updated his blog in like 3 or 4 years.
Meanwhile Vin is getting old as fu#k and I don't know how well the character will work if he's got to have a cane to move around.
So I'm quite discouraged with the whole ordeal. 🙁
