Emo teen telekinetic Andrew showdown: Strucker vs Detmer

Andrew Strucker (The Gifted)

vs

Andrew Detmer (Chronicle)

- Both teens are in full rage mode.
- Battle takes place in downtown New York.
- Opponents start 20 feet apart.

Who wins?

Going w. Detmer. He had raw power and fine control. He was definitely psycho-ier.
He just seems superior.

I'd lean towards Detmer myself, but Strucker has improved a lot in S2 of The Gifted. He went from having a ton of raw power but zero control, to being able to selectively destroy/blow up specific objects while leaving everything else unscathed. And, in the latest episode, showed enough finesse to torture a guy via breaking his legs by telekinetically twisting them at odd angles.

I do wonder if Strucker can use his telekinetic combustion trick on a person.

The movie and the Strucker charcter both show what a dangerous/versatile power TK is. The movie moreso, as it was the focus of course.

Andy still has some catchup to do then as Andrew was simulating advanced magic and doing quick Lego builds a few days after getting his powers. He even pulled the individual legs off a spider while keeping it alive.

I'd still be more afraid of meeting this psycho in an alley though:

Telekinesis is one thing, but that just looks like a horrible way to go.

Well, the thing is Andy's brand of TK specialises in destruction (pulling things apart in contrast to his sister compressing things more closely). So, it's sometimes harder for him to exercise finer control than for other telekinetics. However, he has a lot of raw power. For example, while Detmer showed rapid fine control after gaining his abilities, the greater feats of raw strength only came later. When Strucker manifested for the first time, he shook an entire building IIRC. And his powers have only grown stronger since, considering how he was initially unable to overpower his sister, but grew strong enough to do so after extended time in the Hellfire Club.

But, like I said, I'd lean towards Detmer myself. But two emotionally unstable, kind of psychotic (though Strucker is not as bad as Detmer in this regard), telekinetic teenagers named Andrew? How could I not make this thread.

Andy has improved as of this week's episode, but I'd give it to Detmer

This was a cool thread idea, and i like you devil’s advocating. Its nice when both charcters get their due.

Well, I think Andy has a lot of untapped potential, so decided to give him some props, even if I believe Detmer to be his overall superior at the moment. I mean this isn't bad for a first outing, so am curious to see how he continues to develop:

Well if the show keeps going, odds are good for him, as Detmer’s not hoing to get any better!
