I think the combination of Outlander tanking her death blast from four feet away and Valkorion draining her essence/binding her spirit is immense for both parties.

Yeah. It's a pretty good feat.

Did he also gain his daughter's weakness?

Not so impressive. Vaylin is really powerfull though she haven't so much knowledge of the force so under her spiritual form she should be just unable to efficiently act.
