I did see one or two where the person apologizing for it did some serious introspection into his own biases and ethical failures in that situation, and I actually respect that.
That is the true story here, not the boisterousness of the students, not the honesty or lack of of Phillips, not even the extremist black nationalist views and rhetoric of the group accosting the students. The lack of journalistic and ethical standards of the mainstream media and their utter depravity.
Exactly, not that they didn't already do something similar by touting some story from BuzzFeed recently as well (that was a lie.)
Even when the media blasts out the garbage nothing happens to them, they just walk it off and pick a new piece of outrage (all of our US news platforms.)

Problem is, news moves that quickly that if you stop to dig deeper you can run the risk of being beaten to the story by rivals, I would imagine that's how a lot of it is for journo's, get something? Gotta run with it. Doesn't make it right, but it must be a factor in some cases.
