It would be good for pretty much everyone except China and Russia who are the only real backers of NK. Getting NK out of existence would be great, and it would probably be good for the Korean people, though as others have said, it would face a lot of problems at first.
Actually I think it'd be good for Russia and China too. Political links with former North Korea might not disappear simply because they'd help the Unified Korea to have more regional power tan Japan. Good relationships with China would be a geopolitical move that would achieve that goal easily. If you think Korea wouldn't try to play the west/east mediator to amass influence then you don't know the korean mentality very well.
It wouldn't really matter. South Korea would gain literally nothing from merging with NK, just millions of malnourished under-educated people.
On a global level NK also has nothing substantial to offer to the rest of the community. Their natural resources are nothing special and its people have little spending power, meaning not much to offer in trade. Another source of people to make shoes and Ipods, I guess.
