Resident Evil Village

Wait, are you saying it actually plays like RE4?

Why? When RE6 was an improvement in every way?

Since RE6 used more modern action mechanics, dumped the tank controls, refined and polished?

You can read right?

I said RE8 is basically a "modern" version of RE4....RE8 follows the same formula as RE4.....its more action oriented but nothing like RE5 or RE6. The game literally starts out in a village and involves a situation on par with RE4 village/chainsaw attack scene.

RE6 sucked balls...and RE7 and RE8 are significantly better than that game.

RE6 had terrible controls too, just in a different way.

I remember playing Chris' segment, which was basically a shitty dollar store Gears of War knockoff, and the controls for taking cover were comically convoluted. Like had to press 3 buttons at once to take cover. It was extremely unintuitive.

RE8 was awesome though. Maybe my game of the year so far, really enjoyed it.

Oh god...Leon's segment is OK..but once you leave the College, it start to sucks and has respawning enemies.

The friend and I went through Leons but we stopped playing completely.

The only one I completed was Chris', then I started Leon's and yeah, the beginning area was fine, then once you got out on the street it all went to shit and I stopped playing and never tried again.

I remember after RE6 a lot of people thought the RE franchise might be done, because it was such a disaster. Sold well but but very few people enjoyed it. It's impressive how they've been able to turn things around with that franchise. RE7 and 8 have both been excellent.

Yes...I think it might the highest selling game......
I remember people talking good things about Revelations....so I played it and it has the same problems as RE6!

I'm glad the route they took with RE7 and 8.....I wonder if personal drastically changed.....

Has Capcom announced a Resident Evil 9 yet?.

From what I remember with 6, you just press A to take cover, and one of the left shoulder buttons makes you aim out of cover. Pretty simple. My control/gameplay issues wasn't so much with taking cover but other things.

RE6 sold around RE2's level iirc (as in the original 2), but Capcom was expecting 4 or 5 sales numbers again with it, which after how rushed and sloppy they were with 6, don't know how they could've expected it.

The RE3make was an even worse blunder though, which I'll never live down with how much it bastardized the original.

Revelations was solid, particularly for a game that had first been on the 3DS. RE6's controls I can understand having such issues with, but Revelations' I don't remember as well with how long it's been since I played it. It felt a good bit more horror and less action-y though and liked all the campaign material and atmosphere from what I do remember of it. Raid mode was solid and plenty replayable too.

Revelations 2 was a step down however. It eventually got more action packed and became more of the same from what we had before. Had some moments but was forgettable compared to the first one.

p.s. Didn't know RE8 was a Playstation exclusive.

RE8 was not a Playstation exclusive.

He was making a joke. I never understood that: putting multiplatform games under categories for specific systems. Winning best game on PlayStation? Doesn't that make it best game on Xbox too then? Awards should ever only put exclusives on those.

Third person RE8 bois, hell ya! I hope this means they ditch first person in the future and recognize people prefer 3rd.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news but if the RE4 Remake is supporting PSVR, first person may be as optional there as third person is now here.

I may actually kick this around now. I've told myself to hold off til they at least announce the inevitable complete edition to start considering Village.

First person is superior though.

Did you hit your head today or something?

Get the fuk out of this thread

I like the first person in this game...
It will be interesting to see how they changed the gameplay up because there is clearly situations in the game that work well with the first person view.

😂

Should have been 3rd person to begin with. I play enough other 1st person series as it is, but Resident Evil is rooted in 3rd person. Is telling that people are only now considering Village because of this, while RE7 they just watched a longplay of on youtube. Am all for experimenting, but the change to 1st person just didnt work for many people.

Wtf are you even saying? These games sold really well as it is lol.

First person can be more immersive and scary if done well over third person. I don't think anyone would argue that Condemned: Criminal Origins for example would be superior in third person.

That being said, RE engine renders some amazingly awesome third person perspective, and I appreciate looking at a character model interact with the game world. And RE has a longer history of being third person, so it's a return to form. RE8's mercs mode had the failing of being both one character and first person, and as a result it's the only Mercs or Battle mode I haven't played to death since RE3/RE2 Saturn.

They did, but a not insignificant number of RE fans were still put off by the 1st person. Saw some people in my social circle suddenly want to get Village now just on the added 3rd person.

With me particularly, I'm kind of a 3rd person purist for RE since I don't normally play as many 3rd person shooters as I do 1st person. Sue me.

I find that a silly reason to not play a game.RE7 and RE8 are fantastic games. Both very well made.

We should commend Capcom for reinventing the series and trying something new. We are forgetting how shitty RE6 was....
