The church is so lame, they once had a pope who threw orgies and now they have awful people like this.
Query: Do you think pedo's are drawn to this kind of thing because of the access to kids? Or do you think something changes them? As in, do you think there are some of these guys who weren't pedo's before they became priests, etc.? Or do you think it's a bit of both?

It's an international infiltration and blackmail operation it's not just in the church but in politics and entertainment. The point is once you do that you are capable of doing anything plus you are now comprimised and can be blackmailed.
Pope Francis has expelled Theodore E. McCarrick, a former cardinal and archbishop of Washington, from the priesthood, after the church found him guilty of sexually abusing minors and adult seminarians over decades, the Vatican said on Saturday. The move appears to be the first time any cardinal has been defrocked for sexual abuse — marking a critical moment in the Vatican’s handling of a scandal that has gripped the church for nearly two decades. It is also the first time an American cardinal has been removed from the priesthood.
who wants to hate on the pope now?

Pretty much. He's at least taking a stand and drawing a line in the sand in regards to clergy and sexual abuse. Instead of the churches previous culture of burying the stories and defending the abusers.

I'm not sure if there's a study out there that'd answer this question but in my opinion when a person makes a supposed vow of celibacy then is given perceived 'easy' access to people they can prey on, the cynic in my says it's only a matter of time when the carrot on a stick becomes too much of a temptation. That being said, there are probably also people in that institution who have noble intentions.
