If he lies call it out, if he does something you agree with, agree with it.

Just like if Carthage used some of that same ammo to save some children from a pedophile or something...all that would be needed was a "good job Carthage". Not some kind of crazy "Good job, but also remember when you shot yourself?". And the best part is that doesn't even mean you can never ever broach the subject of gun safety with him.

No, it's opinion that it's "fine" to constantly complain no matter what Trump does, even if you agree with it.
