He wasn't really. It was his joke thing. He goes through periods where you reuses the same insults over and over. He said that because his joke, at the time, was that I was going to murder my wife and kids (at the time) like Chris Benoit due to roid rage.
You can usually tell when people are on roids: much more vascular; redness on their shoulders, chest and back; face looks swollen with water even though they are ripped (water retention), stretch marks around their arms and pec insertions (from the rapid muscle growth), and very large rounded shoulders and traps (more androgen receptors there).
Oh, and more acne especially "bacne" which are large amounts of giant pimples on their back.
You don't have to ask if someone is on roids: you can almost always tell.
