When did the Social Justice Left become the Evangelical Right?

At what point in recent history did the Left wing start abandoning all reason to become "virtue signalling the movement"?

I.E - wanting ISIS' defectors to come into the country. Cleary wanting an open border in the southern US regions. Pretending that women and men are the same. Trying to frame conservatives as snowflakes when companies produce ads implying that men need to "be better" but loosing their heads when minor smiles in the face of someone harassing him.

Well, since it has gotten worse since Trump's election, we can thank them for another 4 years of Trump in office.

Within the last decade this shift has been happening because a larger and larger portion of the dems base became snowflakes and they catered to it.

I think it especially picked up speed after Obama won re-election and then the 2016 election exacerbated it.
