A true master!

There was another thread like this, I'll repost what I posted there, although, it was nearly a decade ago, so my list would probably change a little..

Alfonso Cuarón - Children of Men
Wolfgang Petersen - Troy, Das Boot
Trey Parker - Team America: World Police

More than 5, I know. Sorry. : )

I would add Mel Gibson to the list.

Don't think it'll be long before Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan are listed among the greatest ever. Taylor Sheridan as well if he keeps directing his own phenomenal writing.

^ Denis Villeneuve

Yeah, definitely. I would definitely add him.

Alex Garland is showing great potential, too. Ex Machina is great, but I had mixed feelings toward Annihilation. So we'll see how his career goes..

Hitchcock and Scorsese should be on every single list, IMO.

Yeah, fo sho. I've seen enough of their films to agree with that.

in no particular order

scorsese

Scorsese
James Cameron
Ridley Scott
Steven Spielberg
Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick (the best)
Quentin Tarantino
Martin Scorsese

Guys like Spielberg and Ridley Scott are great and have made some phenomenal films, but they've also made some real stinkers which drags them down quite a bit IMO.

would add woody allen tbh

Steven Spielberg
James Cameron
Quentin Tarantino
Guillermo del Toro
Ridley Scott (as long as he stays the **** away from anything to do with the Alien franchise these days)

In no specific order:-

- Frank Darabont
- James Cameron
- Steven Spielberg
- Roman Polanski
- Christopher Nolan

Honorable mentions:-

- Stanley Kubrick
- Ridley Scott
- Clint Eastwood
- Denis Villeneuve
- Robert Zemeckis
- Martin Charles Scorsese

Nobody mentioned Frank Capra 😬
