The general idea of building self-discipline is fine and has benefits. No-fap specifically is kind of a placebo effect though. The idea underlying it, as I understand, is that men are motivated by the urge to breed and thus the less sexually satiated you are the more driven and competitive you'll feel. That sounds really bro-sciencey to me and I doubt there's much evidence to support it. It you feel better from not jerking off for two weeks it's probably just because you feel productive by not doing something that you considered to be a big part of your routine before. You can get that same feeling by doing (or not doing) other things though.

Rather then cold-turkey never jerking off, you can probably get as good of a feeling or better by regularly going to the gym and improving your diet.

Alternatively you can just give yourself to the void like I do, and jerk off regularly while also eating garbage and never working out, placating yourself to sleep each night by insisting that tomorrow you'll start making the big changes you need to improve your life. Changes that will never come because self-destructive tendencies and habits are the only coping mechanisms you possess due to a dysfunctional childhood.

By my experience I can assure you that it's not placebo. Yes I become easily irritated, rage-prone, etc, but this can be cured through regular meditation. The pros are that you gain a boost in testosterone levels (studies confirm this look it up) and correspondingly energy.

Again all of you are missing the point of jerking off being a new form of drug addiction. The dopamine release is very similar to the pleasure experienced by users of meth. Are you condoning drug addiction?

It's a placebo because there is nothing inherent about abstaining from masturbation that gives you that feeling, unless you were addicted to it to begin with. Any feelings you have from abstaining from masturbation can also be gained by exercising, getting more sleep or eating better. As for the testosterone thing, masturbation's role in testosterone has been pretty thoroughly debunked insofar as being noticeable in its effects on t-levels.

Anything can be addicting if abused. If you jerk off in moderation (once a day or less) there will never be any negative consequences. Jerking off daily would actually be a healthier dopamine rush then drinking alcohol, eating fast-food, watching TV for hours, etc.

I think once you start getting into snakeskin belt beat off sessions is when you should seriously consider some help, and abstaining from it.
