The official wiki has it at 5 meters which is roughly 16½ft. And its weight at 1,650 kilos which is about 3,638lbs.
A statement from Luke himself in the movie - "The Keepers forced Jabba's rancor into a dungeon where it could barely move. It was half-starved. Though I didn't have a choice, I'm still sorry I had to kill it."
Not his main keepers fault. But Jabba only let it be fed when he stopped someone in the pit. And he kept it cooped up in a pit where it could barely move and had to constantly fight to eat and survive. His keeper actually was planning to betray Jabba and escape with the Rancor but Luke showed up before he got the chance.
Luke even said later he killed it to out it out of its misery more than his own protection as it was so abused and malnour6it would be impossible to save it.

If he was so malnourished and abused, why did his handler cry after Luke killed him?
The rancor saved his life in the desert and they bonded. But he still worked for Jabba so he couldn't do much aside from try and take care of it as best he could without defying his orders.
So despite his love, it was still malnourished and abused as it was literally kept in a too small pit under a trap door and only fed the things/people dropped in it and the creatures he fought and killed for Jabba's amusement.
