Literally boggling and embarrassing all at once.

Haha, it is ridiculous though DMB. Remember, I am one of the last colonialists...

They need to provide reparations to all these countries.

Yo what’s with everyone demanding apologies from Spain? Mexico demands an apology from Spain, then the Muslims do kek.

It's that eternal search for victim hood.

The whole apology thing is quite silly. Yes, the Conquistadors were terrible to the indigenous people of Mexico. But it’s not as if Aztec were a nice group people either. Shouldn’t Mexico then apologize to the many countries which had peoples that were terrorized by the Aztecs?

Who the **** cares!

Back then, it was conquer or be conquered. The World wasn’t a nice place back then. Either you were the top of the food chain, or you were at the bottom. So again, who the ****s cares!?

Why is it interesting? Well, it shows why the world has a pervasive language... It also shows how Britain shaped the culture of the world at its most formative time etc, etc. For such a small country it really is an amazing achievement.

Most of the people who were terrorized by the Aztecs also lived in Mexico.

There is a true difference that you are ignoring. The current Spanish king is a straight successor of the same rulers that ordered the invasion of the Americas while there is no true successor of the Aztec rule.

It also glosses over the point that the Mexican president is trying to make: his country has a long story of being compliant to Spain and the Vatican, this is still true for many latin american countries (some president over there call Spain their madre patria). He's pretty much sending a message of reaffirminng independance. Whether the action itself is useless or the method is bad doesn't change the fact there is a political reason behind it.

Wait... Spain still has a king? lol

Remember the Maine, to hell with Spain!
