Best Year for Comic Book Cinema

A companion piece to Quan's thread on 2019 being the best year in fiction we've seen thus far, what year do you guys think was the definitive year for comic book film adaptations?

I'll submit 2008 to begin, as it is my classic choice:

- The Dark Knight
- Iron Man
- The Incredible Hulk
- Wanted
- Hellboy II: The Golden Army
- Hancock
- Batman: Gotham Knight
- Justice League: The New Frontier

- But...some turds like The Spirit and Punisher: War Zone weigh it down.

What do y'all think?

A yearly list of supes movies on the below website, pretty cool:

2008 would be my pick as well.

2012 would be another great choice. You had The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dredd which were all masterpieces. You also had The Amazing Spider-Man which while not great had its moments. The only outlier was Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance which sucked ass.

^Ya that was another pick.

2002 and 2005 are sleepers: Spider-Man, Men in Black II, and Road to Perdition in '02; Sin City, Batman Begins, and A History of Violence in '05 (I liked Tim Story's Fantastic Four as well, though Elektra was a garbage fire with perhaps the exception of Terence Stamp's Stick and Garner's dedication to the role).

2008 was a good year, 2018 was a good year also same with 2019

2018:

Infinity War
Aquaman
Black Panther
Ant Man/Wasp
Into The Spider Verse
Deadpool 2
Incredibles 2
Venom

not to mention the several animated offerings direct to video

2019:

Endgame
Shazam
Captain Marvel
Spider Man FFH
Glass

plus we have Brightburn coming out later this year too which looks dope

Also, throw 2017 in there as well:
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Spider-Man: Homecoming
- Wonder Woman
- GotG Vol. 2
- Logan

- It had one of the biggest turdbombs of all-time in Justice League, but a pretty solid list nonetheless.
