We dont know what the measure of worthiness is, as it was never detailed.
However id say being a soldier is likely a big part of it. (Can only go by the traits Cap and Thor have in common).

DD is a mutated Kryptonian. He has the same powers as Clark.
How convenient that you forget that Superman was in the presence of Kryptonite when he was killed. Despite that his corpse remained invulnerable and all it took was a jolt of power to bring him back to life. Thanos, on the other hand, has been killed twice now and he's not coming back.
