I've Got a really novel notion

A completely blind OP for the final match.

What does everyone say about the idea of all 4 contestants PMing Damborg an opener without actually knowing which opponent you will face in the final.

No idea as judging hasnt occurred as to who you could face just an OP making a kick start to cover both potential opponents.

Could make for a very interesting read for the final match.

Seems like unnecessary work with half of your OP being useless. That being said, I'll do whatever the majority wants.

I was just thinking how normally in tournaments while its supposed to be an impromptu encounter it never really is.

As the writer of our character we know who they'll face in battle and write our attack accordingly with full knowledge (usually - or at least the oportunity to research to get it) of what said adversary is capable of.

As such opening attacks are written catered to a specific characters powerset and weaknesses. Then of course the debate partially turns on how that wont work because you dont know that in advance etc.

With a truly blin OP we actually get to see a truly impromptu battle played between x and y.

We could even have two matches winner vs winner and looser vs looser to give the bronze as well as gold and silver

The rest of your post seems better suited for a tourney or involvement with more participants. Because here its either one of two characters so it can't really be that blind or random.

I was thinking of a tourney or something like it, using only villains. Having it so at a tier or power level where everyone would be around the same. Would probably be my last BZ for a while, also. Villains seem to operate more equally since they all have to lose to their respective heroes. Could be interesting also anti-heroes would be welcome as well.
