The Boys is a political allegory

On one side, you have soulless company Vought American, hedonistic self interested Supes, and their political backers.

On the other side is Billy Butcher, who single mindedly wants to rid the world of the first group, to the point he's willing to sacrifice his comrades and commit mass genocide to bring the status quo down.

The real fiction is Wee Hughie, an everyman who doesn't particularly care for the tactics of either side, and manages to put the breaks on both of them.

I'm fairly certain any real life Hughies get chewed up and spat out, if they're ever in a position to affect events at all.

Haven’t read the comics, but supposedly Butchers even worse, and the shit be does to his team are pretty bad.

It's a tough call.

The Supes are careless, stupid, and ultimately useless. People have died because of them.

But it's usually because their Flash accidentally runs through a civilian, or their Superman destroys a plane while trying to save it.

Butcher, on the other hand, purposely tortures and murders Supes.

Even Wee Hughie literally kicked the head off of one, on purpose, as he was bound and helpless on his knees. Only because he was responsible for his girlfriends death, accidentally, and Butcher kept playing recordings of him saying callous things over and over again (What pushed him over the edge was hearing about his new girlfriend being forced to suck him off, on threat of losing her job.)

The Supes are evil, evil men, but The Boys are cold blooded killers. And the worst is, indeed, Butcher, who planned on killing every last person with a trace of compound V (The "superpower" drug) in their system. Which includes a lot of people who were accidentally exposed, without their knowledge or consent.

Totally.

Lots of Republican capitalists are similar to Stilwell. Heartless money grubbers, who would sell people to death squads if it would turn a profit.

And lots on the left are Butcher. A single minded hatred for their Republican opponents, and it doesn' matter if they hurt their "allies" in the process (Like turning a blind eye to domestic abuse in Muslim countries, for example.)

If you are on the take it doesn't matter what you do. Your corrupt.

I probably should have said social-political allegory.

Because there's the entire corporate/celebrity/social activist/common joe dynamic going on.

Of course, the superheroes are celebrities. Hollywood America, in a nutshell.

Interestingly, it's the Republican's who are behind decadent Hollywood-ish celebrities.

If they gene/splice an actor to his character the psycological process might be strong enough to stop Carnage.

Agreed. 👆

Garth Ennis is a genius, his social commentary >>>>>>> hacks like Mark Miller or Frank Miller.

I’ve come to hate Mark Waid for the shits he’s doing at Marvel now. The man is going after small time writers by calling them names the left likes to toss out.

It's disappointing. We always knew he was a lefty, and a dog hater, but now he's just being mean.

Then again, Spider Jerusalem is probably just him, unfiltered.

I see nothing wrong with being on the left, I just don’t have the time for the ones that tries to destroy others life because they don’t agree with them.

Exactly my point. 🙂

I've read and enjoyed Transmetropolitan, despite disagreeing with almost all of bis politics (And especially his stance on dogs), but his latest actions make him look like a real jerk.
