Giving a movie bad reviews and freaking out about it before seeing it because you believe it has themes you disagree with.Does that apply to both those movies?
Yes.
You think one is dumb and the other isn't (because you agree with one and not the other). I think they're both dumb.
Specifically regarding Joker, it's neither about incels or antifa. It can be misconstrued as being about incels due to Arthur's fantasies Vs the reality about his neighbour. But it's not just women he's unable to connect with. Everyone rejects him. Thinking it's about antifa because of the way the Joker's supporters dress and act is equally retarded because they're in it for all of 5 minutes so taking this as the major theme is ridiculously dumb. Even if they were in it more they are more akin to anarchists and G7 protesters than antifa.
But that's what happens when you project.
You're conflating what some people did with what I did. I thought Captain Marvel would be dog shit based on trailers, but I didn't give bad reviews like those who flooded Rotten Tomatoes with bad reviews before it came out. And I think lots of people form opinions based on trailers.
And while I certainly talked about it I personally was not in some panic over anything Brie Larson said or anything in the movie. I'm sure if you looked you could find someone who legit was upset.
I will also note I did in fact not double down on my opinion of the movie after I saw it. I gave it a 5 out of 10, said it had some cringe, but that it wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be...and even said I felt it deserved a chance to continue telling the story.
So we're just gonna have to agree to disagree.
