Raditz, beaten in a coordinated team effort between Goku and Piccolo where Piccolo's new technique was the deciding factor and dealt the killing blow, and in fact would have killed him sooner had Goku not been merciful.
Vegeta, Goku carries the bulk of the fight but is ultimately crushed and left defenseless, the other characters have to save the day with arguably the deciding factor in their victory being Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail.
Captain Ginyu, though Goku is the only one who can fight Ginyu one on one at first, he is ultimately defeated through the use of the body swap technique and the fight is won by Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta.
Freeza yes, this one Goku is the one who defeated him.
Goku is incapacitated throughout the majority of the Android saga and every victory is won by the supporting cast, culminating in the aforementioned Cell fight where Goku puts up a good showing but ultimately steps down for Gohan to defeat and kill Cell.
So no, I'm sorry, but I doubt your analysis of these characters and how their stories tend to go because you're just frankly wrong.
Goku certainly plays a pivotal role in most of the fights I mentioned because he's, you know, the main phucking character and yes is usually the strongest hero, but he does fail. His mercy towards Raditz almost gets him and his son killed, he is ultimately outsmarted and overpowered by Vegeta and has to play a supportive role to help his friends defeat him, Ginyu left him mortally wounded in a body not his own, his pride causes him to nearly die of a heart disease and though he gives it his all he ultimately can't beat Cell, etc etc.
Goku fails. Not as much as Thor does these days, but he certainly has failed and had to rely on others to save the day.

What do you define as a loss? Does Superman tend to put the bad guy away at the end of the story? Sure, because the tension and drama isn't typically about whether or not Superman himself will persevere. It's about whether or not everyone else will.

Honestly, to me, that comes across as being written by someone who doesn't really read Superman comics. That said, it's your opinion and you're welcome to it. It's not up to me to convert you to Team Superman.
