My 2 Cents with respect threads. I cant put a number on how many respect threads I created over the years. I know I am a nerd, I wrote a ton of them. Its a nice hobby, an I mainly did it because I like to share tadbits of characters I like with the community. Simple. I really do not care that's its time consuming.
My biggest detractors as to why I do not do it anymore are as followed:
1) This online community is on its last leg.
2) The image hosting sites go down. Whats a good solution to keep these images hosted for a longer period of time? How much will it cost me?
3) My respect threads are cloned by others on different sites.
4) You have youtubers making money off our efforts. These comic content creator make short videos, and try to pass of their research as their own. Its obvious they do not have the mental bandwidth to read and absorb hundreds of comics worth lore for them to present nicely on their channel every few days. So to me it feels obvious that they are tapping into our forum and forums like these that host respect thread for them to basically regurgitate the same info.
The last two bit might seem minor to everyone. But if people cloning and content creators took their time to plug in our site and the member. We would get more traffic back into the forum. And that in return would motivate me restore and create more threads. Otherwise I feel I am just creating content to a dead forum community and my work is being stolen and benefiting online vultures.
