Any Star Wars movie is better than Avatar

Nah, Avatar is better than TLJ.

By a Longshot imo. But if TLJ was a standalone movie and hadn't kinda what on all the star wars before it it wouldn't seem that bad.

But I will agree with Impediment, Avatar was extremely overrated but so was Endgame.

Does anyone overrate Avatar? Really? In terms of technical achievements it is groundbreaking, sure, but it's still a pretty solid movie.

Should this thread remain open? It’s been proven that Avatar is in fact better than TLJ and possibly TPM and AOTC

Is that a thing that can even be "proven?"

Edit: That was rhetorical. This thread and the question it poses is all based on opinion.

Congrats, whatever you think - you're right.

Terrible dialogues. Plenty of unnecessary scenes. Pathetic attempts at humour.

No, it would suck as a standalone even worse. TLJ being Star Wars is the only reason it still exists in our minds.

How far the franchise has fallen where you can legitimately say "a movie where a dude plugs his ponytail into an animal in order to control it" is better than Star Wars.

How far indeed.

It's pretty sad. Heck, the SW forums here are pretty much dead despite the fact that the final film in the trilogy comes out in a month, a major video game was just released, and a live-action show is currently airing. By contrast, they were buzzing with activity back before the Disney buyout when there were no films. It's crazy how bad Disney has mishandled the franchise.

I blame Rian Johnson for everything, tbh.

Rian Johnson did have potential to be good with his prior work before doing TLJ, Don't know what the **** happened.

I'm not a big fan of any of his other movies that I've seen (Brick and Looper) but his work on BB was great. Anyway, he's only part of the problem IMO. Kathleen Kennedy and JJ also played a role.

Yeah it was a magic trio: Kennedy, JJ and Rian.

What went wrong is an easy question to answer, they were more concered with leaving their mark on the franchise than they were with making the movies good.

That sounds about right, on top of pushing Disney's agenda

'Figures the weirdos here would select an objectively good Star Wars to be the weak candidate that contradicts the OP's claim. Anyway, ignoring the virgins, Avatar is obviously better than The Star Wars prequels films. Avatar is a decent film that actually is competently written and directed.

Avatar > Force Awakens as well. Which is just an unapologetic clone of ANH.

This, absolutely. Avatar is better than any of the new Star Wars really. Which is sad, quite frankly, that they bungled Star Wars so badly.

Avatar has a lot going for it in the visuals and action department. I've grown more forgiving of it over the years. James Cameron, for all his flaws, is a really great action director and he obviously knows how to use a highly visual medium.

There is no way Avatar is better than TFA

It is. The last half of TFA is cringeworthy stupid.
