If he is only limited to the force I'm not so sure. Aside from the recent force pushes Luke used against the Knights, I don't think he's actually used the force in battle in canon. mmm

Not even the KOR (who are actually force users) could defend against Luke's TK when he decided to actually use it, so the PG will be even more defenseless to it.

*Bear in mind that the first scene takes place in the pre-ESB era, while the second scene takes place just a few months after RotJ.

Tack that onto Luke using the force to casually clown the KoR, and I'm confident that he'd be just fine without a saber here... 😉

And canon depicting Luke as more of a Non-killer, actually just makes it more likely for him to utilise the Force over a Saber.

That's a good point.

One of the first things Luke said to the KoR was "you will leave here with nothing but your lives"... Which means Luke had absolutely NO intention of killing them, even though he knew full well that they were dark side users.

The fight in TLJ was stupid. Rey and Kylo could have decimated the guards with the Force but instead they brawled with them for some reason. Luke takes this.
