You have some valid criticism of the way the articles are written. Even the ones of the Daily Mail, a rather right wing organization, is trying to blame Trump and Republicans specifically. I selectively chose to quote parts of it to not make such accusations. As I said in my previous post, I do think the blame lies with Democrats just as well.

As for the way that the money is distributed, you are right, but I also believe the articles are correct in saying that this is a burden on the taxpayers as a whole, those with the most money are advantaged to the tune of billions by having their tax burden disproportionately, in a country whose taxation is already comparatively low for the rich and for corporations (my opinion) that is a further burden on everyone that just simply does not make enough money for these levels of tax deduction.

Again, I believe you are right that this is a framing that is trying to imply that they are getting a stimulus check for that amount of money, but the quotes clearly say that 82% the benefits (not the stimulus payment), granted it is a question whether it is acceptable to calculate the cost of such a tax break into the future, but I also believe that is pretty standard procedure for joint commissions calculating costs like this one.

I appreciate your points though, many of them are very valid, it is important to look at framing like this.

Dems argue it's not progressive enough. It's not all that faie If you have 200 million you can curb to even 6 million a year, and you wouldn't be taxed "fairly" compared to a poor guy who needs to spend every dime..

Also, none of this argument from the Democrats would apply if we went to the Fair Tax Plan.

None of these loopholes would exist. Why don't the Democrats pass legislation like the Fair Tax Plan? Simple: they are every bit the corportist cucks that the Republicans are. They are just sneakier about it. Neither the GOP nor the Dems are honest. We really really need to get the Fair Tax Plan passed so all of these arguments disappear.

Texas pretty much has this type of tax plan in place, already. They are doing well (or were, before coronavirus).

That's the proposal to replace all income and payroll taxes with one tax on retail consumption? Please tell me if I am wrong.

If I am correct however, I'm not a fan of those, tbh, while rich people do consume somewhat more, currently most of them have so much wealth they can't spend much of it and so they mostly have it invested, giving them immense amounts of power, and in reality creating a machine that more or less makes the rich richter and keeps the poor down.

I do think that we should have a simplified tax system, eliminating most loopholes (and funding IRS agents well to ensure there are as few people skirting the rules as possible), but I would not want it to be a consumption tax. I think it should be a tax that is mostly on money flow, I'd unify payroll, income, estate, capital gains taxes, and everyone just has to pay a percentage on what they received. So if you inherit money, you get taxed the same as if you had earned that money on a job, or if you had won the lottery, or if you had made it on the capital market.

I would also keep it progressive, but that is not necessary if it is high enough.

shocking, I tell you. SHOCKING

"Heartland hotspots: A sudden rise in coronavirus cases is hitting rural states without stay-at-home orders"

The bump in coronavirus cases is most pronounced in states without stay at home orders. Oklahoma saw a 53% increase in cases over the past week, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Over same time, cases jumped 60% in Arkansas, 74% in Nebraska, and 82% in Iowa. South Dakota saw a whopping 205% spike.

Perfect rebuttal from my sister. Here's a paraphrase:

We had 60 COVID-19 test kits for the entire state a 6 weeks ago. Then we got 3000 a few weeks ago.

Now we got thousands more. Magically, we are able to test more and magically, have more cases.

Also, what kind of drugs are you on? We've been on state lockdown since March. Weeks. On lockdown.

This is what you get for using CNN as a source. I would say that I hope you let this be a lesson but you won't learn from it. You'll continue seeking out sources to confirm your bias.

Guess what? Oklahoma is still in a good position with our healthcare system with more than enough beds and equipment.

These mandatory masks laws are stupid.

Stupid because there aren't enough masks to go around, forcing disinfectant processes that damage integrity of the mask. And to top it off, studies suggest the virus passes right through surgical masks.

If anything, making someone wear the same mask for an entire week increases likelihood of catching something.

masks seem more helpful in prevention of infecting others

That is the main reason masks are being pushed, to stop (or limit) the mask wearer from spraying potentially infectious droplets.

I'd also rather be wearing a mask than not if someone where to sneeze and/or cough in my direction. Not a 100% guarantee it will stop the micro droplets from entering my mouth/nose, but it's still a layer of defense.

If they were fresh, maybe.

Trouble is in a lot of cases, they're not. Spraying masks down with liquid sanitizers runs the risk of destroying the material.

And if they aren't properly decontaminated (Kind of an oxymoron, as there's no officially correct way to reuse surgical masks) you run the risk of trapping infectious diseases into your breathing space.

Heck, mask aren't even supposed to be used for more then a few hours, let alone weeks.

We bought several cloth ones on the cheap online. We clean them in the washing machine like laundry.

I just put in an order for those fancy coppor lined machine washable types. 👆

Just one though, I'm gonna need to come up with something better then laundry wash every day.

the virus seems to die after 72 hours on surfaces, so I would just reuse the mask after 3 days. that's what I've been doing, anyway. ordered a proper mask online finally. was using a scarf until now

The copper lining is a nice touch. Copper kills most viruses and bacteria on contact or shortly after. Our ancestors even knew this as copper, brass and bronze shavings were used for thousands of years as a means to treat war wounds.

It's really a shame we don't use copper more in shit like public handrails and door knobs.

yeah, ddm's gaslighting word salads will make those pesky fact go away. if not, there's alwars peer validation. surt the loyal sidekick is loyal.

Head of the WHO is gutter trash, as is anyone defending them.

It's ok to admit that you have no critical thinking abilities.

We get it, you aren't smart enough to refute his arguments, so you have to rely on insult/trolling.

I have failed to see you make any valid points and whenever you(or Rob) try to argue with DDM you always get utterly shut down.

These are facts.
