Oklahoma is seeing a consistent sharp drop in daily news cases. But our daily deaths is still quite high.
Almost everyone, without exception, is wearing a mask and has been since August. I thought masks and social distancing worked? What's going on? Why are the things we were told on the news not helping? Do social distancing and masks not....actually work?
On another note, now that we are many months into the SARS-CoV-2 situation, we can follow up with people who tested positive for the virus allll the way back in March and see if they still have markers of immunity.
And they do!!!!
"The latest time-points we tracked in infected individuals were past seven months, so that is the longest period of time we can confirm immunity lasts," Dr. Bhattacharya said. "That said, we know that people who were infected with the first SARS coronavirus, which is the most similar virus to SARS-CoV-2, are still seeing immunity 17 years after infection. If SARS-CoV-2 is anything like the first one, we expect antibodies to last at least two years, and it would be unlikely for anything much shorter."
Wow, 17 years and counting? Really cool. So that's why other research found that around 40% of people were already immune to coronavirus: immunity lasts a long-ass time.

This must be why, despite getting repeatedly exposed to the virus, I still haven't come down with a corona-cold. Pretty cool. My immune system is doing its thing.
OH, hey, have people been telling us there is no longer lasting immunity with this virus to scare us and feamonger? Feels like lots of people have been trying to do that.
Must be why Sweden is done with the coronavirus and other countries are still dealing with it: immunity is long lasting and extreme fringe cases mean shit compared to large, real-world, sample sets. Guess that will be a lesson to people buying the fearmongering bullshit.
Glad I could help people with the actual facts and dispel some of the lies around the coronavirus.
Donald Trump Jr. claims US coronavirus death rate at 'almost nothing'
Donald Trump Jr. downplayed the impact of the coronavirus in the U.S. Thursday night, saying the death rate has dropped to "almost nothing" amid a rise in confirmed cases. -snip
"Oh! Oh! Because the number is almost nothing. Because we've gotten control of this thing. We understand how it works — they have the therapeutics to be able to deal with this. If you look at that, look at my Instagram, it's gone down to almost nothing." -snip
1049 people died in the US of Covid the day he said that. The deplorables being deplorable.
Here in Ireland, we just started a six-week lockdown and there's now a big row over what's considered essential, and what isn't. It doesn't help that we went through a transition of government during the pandemic, and the new people in charge... don't really have a clue what to do.
At least my father and brother are feeling better, and none of the rest of us have been infected. That's something at least. Just wish people outside were more considerate of others is all.
