Robtard remembers. We had over 350k deaths in 2020. Still going.
US has passed 360K deaths: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
Anyhow, some are pushing to hold off on the second dose until all (or at least the most at risk) have the first dose as a means to speed up the vaccination process. Their logic is that the first dose alone offers 80-90% protection. Worth looking into, imo.

Yep thats our strategy (U.K.).
As sound as the logic is for helping in the short term, I really hope it doesnt f*** things up for the long run.

Hm.. that's not my understanding. I've had the first dose of the Moderna vaccine. And they say the first dose supplies about 50% protection after 10-14 days. I'm about 5 or 6 days out.

My friend and his mother both got it and managed to shrug it off without dying, he's a raging, obese alcoholic and she's in her 70's, if it didn't kill them it bodes well for the rest of us I suppose.
You'd think so, but then we have instances of young(er) healthy people dying. eg Like the Republican Representative who died last week.

Was just repeating what I heard. If it's only 50% or so protection, then the one dose method seems faulty and doomed to fail.

I think with the Oxford one and Pfizer one, immunity only drops by about 10% with one dose. And even if the Moderna one is 50% thats still enough to grant emergency use and massively help in a global crisis.
The main issue for me is that we dont yet know how long immunity lasts even with two dose. I fear with with just one dose it will be very temporary immunity.
But im no scientist. Thats just what worries me about this strategy.

I will be honest you probably know why, and I can't be bothered to retype or find something I took so long explaining DT.

Its a long thread to search. But I take it Youre also worried about the length of immunity.
