Coronavirus

im still riding a packed bus at least twice a week, but have been practicing impeccable mask discipline since day one, in order to avoid catching covid from retards.

it makes me wonder what's the new case rate for people who use their masks properly? i just dont want to see data that easily includes the ridiculously high amount of user arror. take for example those mouth/chin-diaper retards, obviously breathing through their exposed nostrils.

perhaps figures related to new cases for nurses/doctors/surgeons, since mask discipline is part of their job?

Not to discourage you from keeping up a good habit, but it's probably not doing that much to protect you. Whether your nostrils are above or below the ridge of your mask, you're still breathing in the same ambient air; if the air is COVID-saturated, then you're still screwed.

The benefits of masking show when everyone is doing it. Or, at the very least, when the infected people are doing it. Because the air they exhale hits the inside of their own mask, as opposed to being projected across the room. Likewise, the only situation where your mask is liable to improve your odds is if the person with COVID is breathing directly into your face, because the physical barrier would catch some of it. And if you end up in that situation on the bus, then your odds are pretty bad anyways.

Of course, if you're using actual respirators with proper filters, then you can disregard everything I've said.

... except in most cases you have to breath in contaminated droplets in order to catch it, which the masks mostly block if used properly. so don't worry, i won't be discouraged from masking up by internet bro science. no offense

That's fine by me, since you're doing the right thing anyways. You seem to feel a great deal more secure than I think is warranted, but I suppose there's no harm in that.

Science proves the coronavirus is much too small and goes right through masks like they don't exist.. Even the N95 respirators or the triple layer masks are nearly worthless.

why do you so desperately need to suggest that its just a security blanket to wear pointlessly except to fit in. you must be way smarter than everyone else who wears surgeon's masks. i bet you know lots of stuff. thanks for you approval though, which was totally not condescending af. also your obvious smirk of pretend-superiority is totally invisible im sure 👆

Do face masks work? Here are 49 scientific studies that explain why they do

Peer-reviewed studies:
Researchers (including a CDC doctor) for a February 2021 article published by the Journal of the American Medical Association reviewed data from 10 previous studies conclude mask wearing substantially reduces spread. They write that wearing a cloth mask can reduce transmission of exhaled droplets from infected wearers into the air by around 50% to 70%. Additionally, masks were shown to help prevent uninfected wearers from inhaling large respiratory droplets. Overall, the authors found mask wearing’s main benefit is source control, which protects others by reducing the number of respiratory droplets released, rather than respiratory protection, which protects the wearer. Peer reviewed. Etc.

Cherry picked, out of context, or bad methodology.

The science is very clear. Masks are useless.

But by all means, have your security blanket.

Even if the masks were useless against covid (and I don't think they are), the amount of shit they block that would weaken your immune system if you got them, which would subsequently make it easier for you to get covid, makes them worth it.

Not only do they want their security blanket, they force the rest of us to have it too.

This is actually an underrated angle. Coronavirus aside, masking and social distancing policies did a really great job at reducing the spread of other common viruses. Unfortunately, after more than a year of silence, RSV is back with a vengeance in my area now that these policies have become more lax.

And they ignore the fact masks are said to only protect OTHERS.

Yet can trap disease inside the mask and make it MORE LIKELY YOU GET SICK.

I'd love to say I came up with it all by myself, but I'm actually on meds that weaken my immune system, so my doctor was pretty severe about making sure I don't **** around.

if you have something you can pass on to others, odds are you're already sick, aren't you?

Cdtm is the only man alive capable of infecting us with corona (all variants) via the Internet.

Save our lives and ban him for a month, please.

A week, at least?
